Today marks an important milestone for Liquid Biologics as we formally launch our comprehensive research program focused on menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MenSCs). This initiative represents years of planning and preparation, and we're excited to share our progress with the scientific community.
Why MenSCs?
Menstrual blood represents a unique and accessible source of multipotent stem cells. Unlike bone marrow or adipose tissue collection, menstrual blood can be obtained non-invasively, making it an attractive option for both research and potential therapeutic applications. The cells exhibit characteristics similar to other mesenchymal stem cell populations while offering distinct advantages in terms of collection ethics and donor accessibility.
Our Approach
We've developed a comprehensive research framework that addresses the entire workflow from sample collection through characterization:
- Standardized Collection Protocols: Rigorous SOPs ensuring sample quality and donor safety
- Optimized Isolation Methods: Comparing density gradient and lysis-based approaches
- Culture Characterization: Full ISCT-compliant phenotypic analysis
- Exosome Research: Investigating the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles
Documentation & Open Science
We believe in transparent, reproducible research. That's why we're making our standard operating procedures, experimental templates, and literature reviews publicly available through our website. This commitment to open science will help advance the field and ensure our methods can be independently validated.
What's Next
Over the coming months, we'll be sharing regular updates on our progress, including protocol optimizations, preliminary data, and insights from our experiments. We welcome collaboration and feedback from researchers working in related fields.
Stay tuned for more updates as we begin our first isolation experiments and characterization studies.
